Wageningen University & Research (WUR) and Bom Group have signed an agreement for the new construction of a research center in Bleiswijk. This new center, with a surface area of over 8,700 m², will be built on Violierenweg, next to the existing greenhouse complex.
Bom Group is acting as the general contractor for the construction of this high-tech complex, working with several partners for a full turnkey delivery.
PB-tec will provide the complete water and electrical installation, including the control technology of the 24 research departments. The water treatment of all 24 departments will be provided by 2 Hortizone ECO ozone machines supplied by Agrozone.
Theresearch departments in the new complex will demonstrate state-of-the-art greenhouse construction techniques, including advanced dehumidification systems based on the semi-closed greenhouse principle. The complex is equipped with solar panels and a heat pump with underground cold and heat storage. Bom Group and WUR have previously collaborated successfully on several state-of-the-art research greenhouses, including the "Winterlight Greenhouse," the "Fossil-Free Greenhouse 2030" and the Estidamah complex in Saudi Arabia.
Construction is expected to begin late this year and the first studies in the new complex will begin in early 2026.
