In collaboration with our dealer GoTech in Zundert, we were pleased to supply a new ozone system to Kwekerij De Ruwenberg in Etten-Leur. Efficient and sustainable water management was a key focus during the development of a new container field for growing strawberry plants.
To make the return water suitable for reuse, the Van Meer family chose an Aqualine 1000 ozone system from Agrozone. This system has a processing capacity of 100 m³ of water per hour and ensures that the water is disinfected in a sustainable and effective manner, allowing it to be safely reused in the cultivation process.
By treating water with ozone, De Ruwenberg enjoys several benefits:
De Ruwenberg Nursery is a modern family-owned business that has been growing soft fruits since 1967. The company is led by Mario van Meer and his sons Marco and Robert, who together represent the third generation of the family to run the business. Over the past few decades, De Ruwenberg has developed into a leading and innovative growing organization with a cultivation area of approximately 130 hectares. The company grows strawberries, raspberries, and blackberries and manages the entire production process in-house: from plant propagation and nursery cultivation to growing, harvesting, and quality control. This integrated approach ensures consistently high product quality.
Cultivation takes place using various systems, including modern greenhouses, plastic tunnels, rain covers, tray fields, and rack cultivation. Thanks to this combination, De Ruwenberg is able to produce and supply fresh soft fruit for approximately nine months a year. The company is supported by a permanent team of about 13 employees, supplemented by approximately 330 seasonal workers during peak periods. With its investment in the Aqualine 1000, De Ruwenberg once again underscores its commitment to investing in innovative and sustainable technologies that contribute to more efficient water use and future-proof soft fruit cultivation.
