Thwan van Gennip grows strawberries and specializes in growing strawberry, asparagus, raspberry and blackberry plants. The main location is in Lierop, Netherlands, with several locations and plots within a 45-kilometer radius. The company supplies fresh produce and planting material to a growing number of national and international customers.
This spring, Thwan van Gennip converted a site in Someren (6 hectares) for growing strawberry tray plants and strawberry cuttings. The Hortizone PRO-6 ozone plant from Agrozone was chosen to clean and disinfect the return water. An Ecofilter cloth filter equipped with pH control was installed in front of this plant.
The Thwan van Gennip Group (TVG) will take over the company Joosten Growers on Ploegstraat in Someren as of November 1, 2025. The 14.6-hectare bell pepper farm will be converted into a modern greenhouse for growing strawberry tray plants and strawberry cuttings after the growing season. A Hortizone PRO-10 Plus ozone plant will be installed here in the spring of 2026.
With this acquisition and investments, TVG is responding to the transition within strawberry breeding: more and more plants are produced in a controlled environment. This results in higher quality, more stable production and a more sustainable process. The investments are in line with TVG's transition plan, which focuses on a future-proof and sustainable cultivation of plant material.
