Tulip bulb storage at high altitudes in Peru

Agrozone recently commissioned several multi-split systems at the tulip grower Gruppo Grameco in Peru, which cultivates tulips at an altitude of approximately 3,000 meters above sea level. The company also imports and stores bulbs from the Netherlands. Despite the high altitude and the clean, thin air, there was still a need to improve air quality in the storage chambers.

At low ozone concentrations, the ethylene released from the bulbs proved to be highly degradable, and the concentration could be kept below the harmful threshold of 100 ppb. In addition, fungal spore formation was significantly reduced in the storage cells. The crop exhibits a consistently uniform appearance during the ripening process.
